Overview

  • Are you an established data scientist with a proven track record of building machine learning models with real world impact?
  • Would you jump at the opportunity to lead the effort in developing predictive models for a rapidly scaling startup?
  • Avocado is constantly striving to develop a deep, near real time understanding of how offline signals and events affect online marketing campaigns, and ultimately real business outcomes.
  • We are looking to add a key member to our team to drive accelerated progress in this area, is that teammate you?

As an Advocado Data Scientist, you will work collaboratively with the Chief Technology Officer and the product engineering and analytics teams, leading the effort to develop data science and machine learning approaches to further our understanding of how offline signals (e.g. linear TV, on-air content, and weather) impact digital campaigns (e.g. Google Ads, Facebook Ads, The Trade Desk) and digital outcomes (e.g. web site visits, conversions, sales).

Advocado’s powerful proprietary data set puts us in a unique position in the market to provide accurate, real time attribution and insights. Our data is derived from sources such as our expansive TV monitoring network covering all 210 DMAs for broadcast and cable/satellite TV, our advanced and highly granular tracking code installed on customer websites, and dozens of partner integrations for activation and data enrichment (e.g. Google Ads, Google Analytics, Facebook, etc.).

Goals

Advocado has an emerging data science capability that we seek to further develop and commercialize in 2021. As an Advocado Data Scientist, you will help the product engineering team refine its data science and machine learning efforts into commercially viable products which further enhance the Advocado platform capabilities. Areas of focus will include:

  • Identifying and developing model features within categories such as user attributes (demographics, web tracking), external factors like weather or in program content, and ad exposures across multiple TV and digital channels. In general, a focus on high quality data as the foundation for predictive capabilities.
  • Model selection and evaluation, ensuring that appropriate approaches are taken and that the model is effective even with unseen and new customer data.
  • Model commercialization and scale, ensuring that effective modeling techniques can be delivered at scale to all Advocado customers.
